Virgin Samoa touches down
Ploynesian Blue has been formally relaunched as Virgin Samoa as the airline’s 737 touched down in Apia today featuring its new Virgin Australia-style livery and interior.
The airline’s 737-800, ZK-PBK Tapu’itea, flew into Samoa from Auckland today, after being repainted and having its interior upgraded by Air New Zealand.
“Today we take the national airline of Samoa into the future,” CEO of Virgin Samoa Mark Pitt said.
“The new livery will increase the airline’s visibility in the eyes of local Samoans and those living abroad as Samoa’s national flag carrier. Since announcing the new name in December last year, the response from the Samoan people has been overwhelmingly positive.”
ZK-PBK previously saw service with Pacific Blue, and replaces Polynesian Blue’s ZK-PBF.
A traditional welcome for ZK-PBK.
Virgin Samoa is a joint venture between Virgin Australia and the Government of Samoa.

Samoa Voted Best Wedding Destination in the South Pacific
News and Lifestyle Giant CNN GO (www.cnngo.com) has voted Samoa’s Coconuts Beach Club Resort and Spa
as the best wedding venue in the South Pacific, ranking it number 8 in the world.
Chosen for its unique and intimate ceremonies, the site highlights Samoa’s unique culture to make your wedding memorable.
“Only in Samoa can you really experience authentic Polynesian culture and CNNGo are 100% correct in suggesting this for a wedding with a difference,” says Peter Sereno of Samoa Tourism Authority in Australia.
“We have a 3,000 year old tradition called Fa’a Samoa that is found nowhere else in the South Pacific. Fa’a Samoa celebrates the importance of family and marriage so you can be sure your wedding will be a memorable one when we incorporate elements of this tradition to your ceremony,” says Peter.
Resorts including Coconuts Beach Club offer Samoan wedding packages for every budget, incorporating Samoan traditions such as the blowing of the conch shell and an address from the local “talking chiefs” representing each family.
Peter says “Samoa is truly blessed, having been awarded the ‘best value destination’ in the region, we now have the ‘most stunning wedding location’ in the South Pacific to add to our list of accolades. Samoa is located in the heart of the Pacific, so visit our beautiful treasured islands and see for yourselves what all the hype is about!”
