Final Special Weather Bulletin Number Nine (9) for Samoa

ISSUED BY SAMOA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES AT 4:00 P.M (LOCAL TIME) SATURDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2010
 
STORM WARNING FOR OPEN COASTAL WATERS TO THE SOUTH OF UPOLU IS NOW CANCELLED.
GALE WARNING IS STILL IN FORCE FOR OPEN WATERS TO THE FAR SOUTH OF UPOLU.
HIGH WIND ADVISORY is still in effect for Upolu and southeast of Savaii.
 
Flood Advisory remains in effect for Upolu.
 
(i) Tropical Cyclone RENE was relocated at about 143 nautical miles southeast of Apia or 119 nautical miles south-southeast of Aleipata at 2.00 pm this afternoon.
(ii) TC Rene continues to move southwest and away from the Samoan group.
(iii ) Open Waters South of Upolu – Southwest winds of 40 -55 mph turning west to northwest tonight with winds of 30-40 mph. Storm surge of 16-18  feet at seas beyond 50 nautical miles from coastal line and 10-12 feet at seas close to the lagoon and will affect some of the  east and southern coastal beaches.
