Perfecting the Pacific Way through Pacific Plates, Palates and People

Robert Oliver is a internationally renowned Chef who spent part of his life growing up in Samoa and Fiji.   Robert’s company- “ Mai Kana Pacific” - is producing a cookbook that profiles the traditional native foods and includes a repertoire of refined dishes to give local hotels chefs a tool to wrap local food culture into tourism and thus encourage greater use of local agricultural products.

Shiri, one of the three co-authors of the Cookbook, is the owner/publisher of "Living in Fiji", Fiji's premier magazine and owner of "Art and Soul", graphic and book design company. Shiri is also a very accomplished photographer.

Together in Samoa through a shared passion for the people, cultures and foods of the South Pacific, the authors propose a book that is ‘underpinned by a philosophy of sustainable tourism, sustainable agriculture and sustainable cuisine. It will be a book that not only promotes the beauty of the South Pacific region, but also the culture of the destination’.

Faafetai Tele lava to all of you who contributed one way or another to Robert & Shiri through provision of accommodation, food and drink, interviews etc.  The cookbook promises to  offer an innovative, “branded” South Pacific cuisine, formatted for the tourism market, with an ingredient base made up of locally grown and produced foodstuffs.
