Bible Translation
Taking 11 years the translation of the bible in Samoan language began in 1834 by early missionaries and was often conducted in the cool shade of a large talie (Terminalia Catappa) tree. A memorial marks the site and the large stump from this same talie tree now form the pulpit in the Avao Congregational Christian Church.
