Golf & Sports

For golfers, the championship course at the Royal Samoa Country Club (just outside the CBD) hosts the annual Samoa Open.

Rugby is not just a national sport, it is a passion. The Manu Samoa team, named after a famous warrior, have a fierce reputation internationally.

The impressive Samoan Rugby Union High Performance Facility boasts a gym, recovery and rehabilitation centre, two training pitches and accommodation for
up to 90 athletes.

In preparation for the 2007 South Pacific Games hosted in Samoa, the sporting facilities underwent a major facelift to bring them to world class standard. Many were newly constructed or improved upon including the Faleata Sports Complex and Aquatic Centre, Baseball Stadium, Beach Volleyball Courts, Gymnasium, Netball Stadium, Hockey Field and Shooting Range.

The facilities are close to Apia for accommodation, restaurants and cafes. Additionally there are properties that cater to large groups close to the sporting facilities.

If it’s local sport you are after, make this trip a memorable one and join in a village kirikiti (cricket) game. See if you can handle the fast paced bowling and triangular shaped bats!
