He is experienced – taught by his father, Peter, the “fishing magician” of Samoa. Damien is crazy about fishing, surfing and having a good time. Rachael, a scientist, is learning the ropes but still managed to win a prize in her first SIGFA comp in 2012.
So, ladies, jump on board! We’ll take you fishing for marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, dog-tooth tuna, masimasi, GTs, wahoo, Spanish mackerel…or, if it is not a day for fishing, you can be taken to hard to paddle to surf spots, go snorkelling or picnic at Fagaloa Bay.
“O le Pe’a” is a registered 7.2m, double-hulled broadbill with twin 115hp outboard engines.
Damien has a knack for bringing out the wild side in people, especially those that love the sea. If you cannot live in Samoa, at least you will be given a taste of our beautiful island and heritage.
Damien and Rachael officially started their business in 2013. However, Damien has been fishing (and surfing) most of his life. He is experienced in both conventional and traditional Samoan fishing methods, and he’s got the gear. Whether you are experienced or not, or if you’ve never been out to sea, you are in good hands. Surfers! Damien represented Samoa in the Pacific Games (2007) and Tavarua Rip Curl amateur competitions and knows all the secret spots.
Most game fishing charters occur on the north side of Upolu (where Apia is located). We also fish the south side as well as the largest island, Savai’i and around Apolima and Manono islands.
